Deborah R. Brandt,
PT, DPT, CMA

Dr. Deborah R. Brandt is a retired dancer, choreographer, Doctor of Physical Therapy, and movement teacher. With over 35 years of practice, her professional work has been related to human movement. Her practice recognizes the value of functional exercises, the self-reflective approaches of somatic and mindful movement, and the creativity  and expressivity of movement improvisation. 

 

Her mission is individual and community education.  

WORK SELECTIONS

DEVELOP AND TEACH  "Energy Exercises" for the Selfhelp Virtual Senior Center;

PEDIATRIC PHYSICAL THERAPIST with young children who were blind, deafblind, and had multiple other disabilities;

PHYSICAL THERAPIST at St. Vincent's and Metropolitan Hospitals in NYC;

CLINICAL INSTRUCTOR to many physical therapy students;

MOVEMENT THERAPIST  and PHYSICAL THERAPIST in private practice;

DEVELOPED AND PRESENTED: 

"Independent Mobility, an Elemental Human Expression," and

"Chronic Pain Interventions for Non-Medical Providers," for Dr. Martha Eddy's "Dynamic Embodiment"  program

for training somatic movement practitioners.

PRESENTER in professional and community programs and conferences;

TEACHER: modern and folk dance, and exercise classes

Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, Doctor of Physical Therapy, pediatric track.

American Physical Therapy Association, Certified Clinical Instructor.

Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons Program in 

Physical Therapy, Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy.

New York University Tisch School of the Arts,

Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Theater.

Additional studies in T'ai Chi, Chi Quong, and Mindfulness Meditation practices;

chronic pain with NOI;  trauma - including EMDR and EFT techniques;

she is a Certified Laban Movement Analyst.
